A solid release from Lee Press-On And The Nails. The album plays like a radio opera with atmospheric sound clips in between tracks, opening up with a Disney "Haunted House" clip, and following the dark swing theme throughout. The double-meaning tongue-in-cheek title "Swing Is Dead" gives Lee freedom to experiment with the group's sound like western swing-influenced "Ghostriders In The Sky", as well as a straight rockabilly "I Prefer A Coffin", and the Iko Iko-ish "Mississippi Darling". The only weak track on the disc is "That Only Happens In The Movies" which seemed out of place in keeping with the theme of the album. The packaging for "Swing Is Dead" is also fantastic with an unreadable disc label which has been blood-stained.
