New Line Cinema to Offer BLAST FROM THE PAST

Swing returns to the silver screen February 12th with the release of the movie BLAST FROM THE PAST, starring Brendan Frasier (Encino Man, George of the Jungle) and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless). There seems to be a dearth of information regarding the movie's actual plot -- only that it is highlighted with an East Coast Swing scene and the brand new Cherry Poppin' Daddies song "So Long Toots".

In promotion of the new movie New Line Cinema is holding dance contests in local swing venues to give away everything from CDs, and private movie screenings to $500 and a flight to New York to attend the premiere of the movie.

The winners from these contests then going to a regional contest and then finally to National dance off. The top 5 couples will be taken to New York for the premiere of the film with the "stars" and give a swing dance demonstration (probably a swing jam) at the premier party.
