- Amy and the Hank Sinatras - From Hank to Frank -
Amy and the Hank Sinatras' first CD, "From Hank to Frank," offers a taste of this tight, swingin' ensemble's astounding stage presence. Resisting the temptation to over-produce, Adams and her group put out an honest studio performance. Of special note is the Amy Adams/Joe Krown original, "Tell Me You Love Me." Standards like Louis Prima's "How Come You Ain't Rich?," as well as more obscure covers like "Jackpot," "Quiet Whisky," and "Goodbye Baby," are representative of this New Orleans-based swing band's red-hot live performances.

There are a ton of swing records coming out these days, and while most are cool to dance to, the musicianship is pretty poor. This record does not fit that bill. The sax man Ralph Carney, has been the sideman to Tom Waits on seven albums and is fabulous to listen to. If you jazzers and swingers want to hear a truly impressive debut album, check this one out.
